In the shop!

Filed under: — Josh Wardell @ 8:08 pm

I’m now driving a Chevy Cavalier!
POS, but beats the Dodge Neon I had rented last time.

The MINI is in the shop for all its work, and I can’t wait to get it back!
When dropping it off at Sublime, I also got to see Ian’s new roof, along with many badly damaged MINIs. 🙁

Site updates

Filed under: — Josh Wardell @ 2:07 pm

I made some small updates to my MINI site over the past week. I re-categorized the mod listings, and added icons to click on for links for more info. I intended to have those icons since starting my site but didn’t get around to pixel-pushing them until last week. 🙂

You may notice my web site is a bit more plain and simple compared to others, but that is done on purpose. First and foremost, the simpler it is, the more compatible it is with browsers and printers (people will want to print out how-to guides). Secondly the simplicity reduces time for me to add or update content. Some of you know how bad I am at updating things that take lots of work, like posting my photos. (Speaking of which I still have to finish those MAMAII pics from October!)

One week till my MINI goes to the shop and is returned to me with new power, new grip, and hopefully nice and clean–I can’t wait!

Burgers & Snow

Filed under: — Josh Wardell @ 7:43 pm

A few of us met today for lunch, as detailed by Ian.

While we were there the rain changed over to a wet, heavy snow, making it very annoying to check out Ian’s new MINI in the parking lot! The roads were in horrible shape the whole ride back, covered in icy slush. But my traction was noticeably much better due to the tire rotation.

The forecast shows a whopping five sunny days ahead…I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen that so I’ll believe it when I see it!

Rotating tires is so easy

Filed under: — Josh Wardell @ 11:29 pm

Thanks to the $20 I spent on my Craftsman floor jack in the fall, changing wheels is so easy. Especially with the MINI where both front and back come off at one time! And to think for years I used a stock handcrank jack on my last car when changing wheels each season.

Yes after tuesday’s snow, and wednesday’s shoveling, today we had a sunny and “warm” (28F) break enough for me to move my worn fronts to the back. It had to be done today because, you guessed it, more snow predicted tomorrow and saturday! Now I don’t have to be worried trying to steer with bald tires…they’re in the back now for some fun e-brake turns! 😀

Saturday a bunch of us MINI2ers are planning to meet up for lunch. It will be the first I’ve been to for a while as I’m usually off skiing. I look forward to seeing everyone again…but unfortunately I can’t have my car sparkly clean!
